How to Unplug the Alternator in a 1993 Nissan Pickup
- 1). Open the engine compartment and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shock when you are working with the alternator.
- 2). Remove the pivot bolt from the alternator using a socket and ratchet. Push the alternator inward. Lift the drive belt from the alternator pulley.
- 3). Disconnect the wire from the alternator. The main electrical lead that comes from the battery is under a rubber boot. Pull the rubber boot back and remove the nut holding the wire to the post using a wrench. Disconnect the voltage regulator harness by inserting a screwdriver into the notch and push the clip down while pulling the harness apart.
